A heavy-duty western disturbance dropped anchor as a cyclonic circulation (rather than a weaker trough) over south Punjab and adjoining north Rajasthan and west Haryana on Friday, flanked by siblings over south-west Rajasthan, north-east Rajasthan and adjoining north-west Madhya Pradesh, and sparking expansively violent weather.
The systems completed a formidable weather-making network even as secondary troughs burst forth in an inverted formation eastward to Bangladesh and southward to Kerala. Farther to the east of the country and beyond, a cyclonic circulation hung over north Bangladesh and a trough cut through north-south over Bangladesh, both with implications for North-East India.
