The Central Government’s net direct tax collections up to July 10, 2025, have come in lower than in the same period of the previous financial year, according to official data released on Friday (July 11, 2025). This contraction has been led by lower corporate as well as non-corporate tax collections.

The data shows that gross collections grew by 3.2% in this financial year up to July 10 to ₹6.6 lakh crore, as compared to the same period of the previous year. However, refunds grew by 38%, which meant the net collections — which are the Centre collections after paying refunds — were lower.

The Centre’s net collections stood at ₹5.6 lakh crore up to July 10, which was 1.3% lower than in the same period of 2024-25. Within this, net corporate tax collections contracted 3.7%.

Net non-corporate tax collections, which include taxes paid by individuals, Hindu Undivided Families, firms, Association of Persons, Body of Individuals, local authorities, and artificial juridical persons, contracted 0.04%.
